Enhanced Text Support and New Perspective Transformations

Version 2.4.1 of our SpectraWorks™ solution is now available for manufacturers and developers of consumer electronics devices. The latest version builds on our SpectraCore™ 2.3 embedded GUI engine and the WYSIWYG SpectraBuilder™ 2.3 design tool. You’re able to gain improved multilingual text capabilities, in addition to new 3D-style perspective transformations, engineered for lightweight, low-powered, embedded hardware designs.

iType font engine and Edge Technology
SpectraWorks 2.4 is the first version to integrate capabilities from Monotype Imaging’s iType® font engine, allowing SpectraWorks to draw on iType-supported scalable font formats, including our CATT™ (Compact Asian for TrueType® Technology) fonts and East Asian stroke-based fonts. SpectraWorks 2.4 also supports our Edge™ Technology, which enables the display of typographically rich East Asian text in a small memory footprint. In addition, iType adds flexibility to font effects, giving you control over attributes such as bold weight and italic angle, and the ability to create effects such as “glow.”

WorldType Shaper
Enhanced font support goes a step further with WorldType Shaper to help you pursue international markets more quickly. A component of our comprehensive WorldType Layout Engine solution and now integrated in SpectraWorks 2.4, WorldType Shaper provides the ability to clearly display characters from complex scripts such as Arabic, Indic and Hebrew.

Perspective transformations
SpectraWorks 2.4 extends the layout widget to allow rotation of the widget, and all of its children, around the X-axis or Y-axis. In addition, depth cueing through gradient alpha and size transformation complete the portfolio of new tools for the designer and software engineer to create leading-edge GUI experiences. The algorithms for all of our 3D-style effects have been designed for minimum processing load and are suitable for small CPU devices, making advanced GUIs available on even low-cost hardware.
